Speaking of Criterion, sources tell us that resources have already been shifted within the studio to work on a new and currently unannounced project. While the decision may prove unpopular with PC owners of the game, it seems that it is likely the correct business decision for developer Criterion and publisher Electronic Arts. It is also believed that the DLC content has a better likelihood of sales success on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as the sale of additional downloadable content on the PC platform has only met with limited success. It was determined that the resources devoted to the DLC should focus on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in order to get the content out quicker by not converting the DLC content to the PC.
As a bonus, PC users were also give three new cars for free as part of this patch, but sources tell us that we should only expect bug fixes and tweaks in the future and additional free content, while possible, isn’t something that PC users should be expecting.įrom the whispers that we hear, the decision to kill off the conversion of the downloadable content for the PC version of the game was a question of resources and sales. Most recently, a new patch was released for the PC version that takes it up to version 1.020 and swats a number of bugs.
While the PC version of the game will not be getting the DLC that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version of the game is getting, it will still be supported with bug fixes and patches to address issues in the PC version. Sources tell us that despite an early indication that Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit developer Criterion and publisher Electronic Arts originally did intend to provide additional downloadable content for the PC version of the game, it has now been determined that this has been killed.
